Notable Options

Min Gump Drag Distance: Adjusting this can make accidental drags when you meant to click a thing of the past. If you’re constantly dragging gumps instead of clicking them, try increasing this.

Game Scale: This allows you to scale the entire game visually, on higher resolution monitors this becomes almost a neccesity.

Title Bar: This feature offers a quick glance at your status from the title bar of the window.

Single click icons: Under Combat & Spells -> This lets you single click your macro/skill/spell buttons and icons.

Update one healthbar: Under TazUO Specific -> Mobiles -> This will keep one health bar updated with your last attack, so when fighting groups of mobs you can always find a single health bar with the current mob you are attacking.

Font Settings: Under TazUO Specific -> Font Settings -> Here you can adjust many of the games font sizes font styles.

Settings Tranfser: Under TazUO Specific -> Setting Transfers -> Here you can override other characters settings with your currently logged in character settings.

Borderless window: A “borderless window (no title bar)” video option — get a clean, title-bar-free window without going fullscreen.

Hide macro target message: Suppresses the “Target: name” overhead message that appears when a macro sets your last target (Chat > Speech > Overhead Text).

Disable gargoyle animations: Uses grounded animations instead of the gargoyle flying animations.

Auto-open doors while hidden: On by default. Disable it to stop auto-door-open (and pathfinder door pass-through) from firing while you are hidden.

Pathfinding limits: A dedicated Pathfinding options tab lets you tune the pathfinder — max nodes for local pathfinding, and separate max nodes / timeout / max retries for World Map pathfinding.

Journal transparency and Disable system chat while Resizable Journal is open: See Journal.

Keep Existing (cooldown bars): When a cooldown bar’s trigger fires again while it’s still counting down, this keeps the running bar instead of adding a new one. Takes precedence over Replace Existing. See Cool Down Bars.

Container Style / Corpse Container Style: Containers have a new Options>Containers>General tab with a Container Style dropdown (Grid/Original) and a separate Corpse Container Style dropdown (Grid/Original/Old Grid Loot/Old Grid Loot + Container). See Grid Containers.

Grid highlighting per-config enable toggle: Each grid highlight configuration can be individually enabled or disabled without deleting it; a disabled config stops highlighting and auto-looting.

Always show name/title above mobiles: In the Health Bars options tab, always renders a mobile’s name/title overhead instead of only on mouse-over or nameplate toggle.

Heal/cure buttons on more health bars: Options to show the heal/cure buttons on all non-invulnerable health bars, separately on friends list health bars, and separately on pet health bars (Health Bars tab).

Skills gump scaling: The standard and advanced skill gumps now share a UI scale setting under Video > Gump Scaling, alongside the other per-gump scale sliders.

Sextant base coordinates: World Map context menu → set the base map X,Y used to convert sextant coordinates, for shards whose sextant origin differs from the default.

Log History: Top bar -> More -> Developer -> Log History opens a window showing the client’s recent log output (filterable by severity) without needing to check a log file.

Strip ID from chat usernames: Chat > Speech tab. Strips a leading <id> prefix from chat usernames (e.g. <36475858>username -> username). Off by default.

Scale overheads with zoom: Video > Zoom tab. When disabled, names, health bars, and overhead text are drawn at a constant size regardless of camera zoom instead of scaling with it.

Ignore tooltip overrides for mobiles: TazUO Specific > Tooltips. On by default — shows mobiles’ raw tooltip text instead of override-formatted text (items are unaffected). See Tooltip Overrides.

Gump Position Manager: Top bar -> More -> Tools -> Gump Positions (or the gumppositions command) permanently pins server gump positions to a database so they reopen in the same spot across restarts, with per-gump save/center/identify actions and an option to save every gump automatically.

Named Auto Loot lists: The Auto Loot agent has a “Loot Lists” selector (New/Rename/Delete) so you can keep multiple loot configurations and quickly swap between them. See Auto Loot.

Journal macro triggers: Macros can now fire automatically when a journal message contains configured trigger text. See Custom Macros.

Take a screenshot on death: Video > Misc. On by default — captures the final frame just before the death screen appears and saves it as death_<timestamp>.png in the screenshots folder.

Candle flicker: Video > Lighting. On by default — makes in-game lights gently ebb and flow like a candle flame instead of burning at a constant intensity.

Visual Effects & Overlays: Video > Visual Effects. A new system of dynamic full-screen effects (poison, bleed, fog, drunk, concussion, tunnel vision, death, earthquake rumble) plus screen shake, all driven by triggers/rules and fully opt-in. See Visual Effects.

Auto-close doors: Movement options. When enabled, the auto-open door system also closes doors you walk past (toggling them instead of only opening).

Block walking into closed doors: Movement options. Prevents walk requests that the server would reject and bounce back, so you don’t get “bounced back” when trying to walk through a closed door.

Use modern color picker: Interface > Gumps. When enabled, hue pickers (e.g. dye tubs) use the modern color picker gump instead of the legacy one.

Bandage agent: The Bandage Agent tab was redesigned and gained a configurable bandage distance (1-15 tiles, default 3), a configurable auto-target type (Neutral/Harmful/Beneficial), and an option to heal yourself via a server command (e.g. .bandage) instead of double-clicking bandages. See Auto Bandage.

Corpse opening settings: The corpse opening settings (auto open corpses, corpse open distance, corpse open options) moved from the Misc tab into a Corpse Opening container under Gameplay -> Mobiles -> Misc. The old Skip empty corpses option was removed entirely, and looting now takes priority over opening corpses (except your own corpse and manually opened corpses).

Post-processing effect type — FSR: Video > Post-processing effects. A new FSR option (AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 1.0) joins point/linear/anisotropic/xBR as a selectable upscaling shader. See Post Processing.

Removed: Camera Smoothing: The old Camera Smoothing option was removed; the camera now always stays locked on the player (the smoothing effect caused the camera to lag behind the player).

TazUO now stores some settings outside the per-character profile so they apply more broadly:

  • Global settings (global_settings.json in Data/) apply to every character on the machine — currently WASD movement, single click to cast spell, the circle of transparency options, and the sound/music settings (master sound and music volume, footsteps, rain, combat music, background audio). These were migrated from per-character profiles.
  • Server settings (server_settings.json in Data/<Server>) apply per server — currently the turn delay (migrated from profiles, default 80).
  • Account settings (account_settings.json in Data/<Server>/<Account>) apply per account — currently the bandage agent distance.

On upgrade your existing values are carried over automatically.
