Anonymous Metrics

TazUO does currently send anonymous metrics to a VPS server owned by TazmanianTad, this information cannot identify you and is not linked in any way to you.

The only thing we send is server logins, whenever you login to a server for the first time during that session(Must close the client all the way to reset this.) we send:

  • Server Name
  • TazUO Version
  • Client Version
    An example of this is: { serverName = TEST, tazUOVersion = 4.17.55.0, clientVersion = 7.0.110.1 }

We don’t “use” it for anything other than a very vague idea of how many people are using TazUO, what servers they play on(In case we need to incorporate server-specific features), and if people are stuck on old TazUO versions instead of staying up-to-date.

Yes, add -nometrics to your launch args. (Can be in in Launcher on advanced tab in your profile).

When TazUO hits an unhandled error it writes a crash log to your Logs folder and, by default, also uploads the text of that report. The report includes the exception, the TazUO/client version, the .NET runtime, your OS and architecture, the crashing thread’s name, and an anonymous install ID.

The install ID is a random value stored in Data/installid (no hardware, account, or network information) and is only used to group reports coming from the same installation.

You can turn uploading off with the Send crash reports option under Options -> Misc (on by default). Crash logs are still written locally either way. A crash during the very earliest stages of startup may still be reported even with this off, since it can happen before your settings have been read.
